A brand new course called Screenwriting Foundations!

Screenwriting Foundations is a comprehensive online video course, that takes you, step-by-step, through the art and craft of screenwriting. 

We’ll kick things off with basic screenwriting terms and concepts and go over both free and paid software options.

Then we’ll dive deep into the anatomy of a screenplay, covering its structure and formatting essentials. We’ll break down everything from title pages to scene headers, dialogue formatting to camera directions, and even specialized elements like montages and flashbacks.

Then we’ll go into the heart of storytelling, discussing key concepts like the three-act structure, character development, arcs, and how to effectively build tension and conflict in our story. We’ll explore the significance of themes, and how to weave them seamlessly into our script.

Once we finish with the basics of storytelling, we’ll get into the nitty-gritty of actually writing the screenplay. We’ll cover crucial elements like beats, scenes, and sequences. We’ll show how to effectively plot our story and create an outline that will serve as our blueprint. We’ll also go over the daunting task of rewriting, and discuss why this stage is so vital to the screenwriting process.

We’ll then bring all these concepts together using the screenplay for ‘Snowlands’ as a case study. showing a practical example of how all these principles come together in a screenplay that was placed in many competitions and was adapted into an award-winning best-selling graphic novel
