Before I start this post, I just want to clarify, if case you’re new here, that we don’t in fact have any special deals and discounts for our products. Ever. But because Black Friday is upon us, I’d like to take a few minutes to explain the reasoning behind this policy.
I’ll start with a story.
I bought a new computer two weeks ago, but a couple of days before it was due for delivery I saw there was a Black Friday sale for it, which could have saved me a couple hundred bucks. I immediately cancelled my order and re-ordered it with the new price. I now had to wait a week longer for it to ship. Great purchasing experience? Not really.
The problem with special sales days like Black Friday, and with discounts in general, is that the people who bought your product before the sale feel ripped-off. Those people are usually the ones who buy early. Your biggest fans and supporters. I don’t think it’s fair to punish the early buyers and reward the stallers.
That’s why I always have special deals and discounts when a new product gets released, and never after. So you’re getting the discount at launch, instead of a while after launch (which is how most companies operate).
Why am I telling you this?
I know people are expecting these deals. I actually got a few emails from people asking if there will be any for Black Friday and should they wait or buy now. With this post I wanted to both let you know about our plan for the Holiday and explain the logic behind it. I hope you see that it’s for your benefit.
